Privacy Policy

Short version: we collect the minimum a directory needs to work, we never sell it, and the sensitive parts of your family's story stay out of the database because we ask you not to post them.

What we collect

• Account: your email address, and sign-in timestamps.
• Listings: whatever you write in them — name-as-shown, area, services, bio, and the contact details you choose to attach. Listings are public by design; write them accordingly.
• Contact events: when a signed-in member reveals contact details or sends a relay message, we log who contacted which listing and when. This audit trail is a safety feature — it's how patterns of abuse get caught.
• Reports: what you tell us when you report a listing, plus your email if you choose to leave it.
• Payments: handled by Stripe. We store references (what was bought, when, for which listing) — never card numbers.
• Technical: standard server logs (IP, user-agent) kept briefly for abuse prevention and debugging. We use Cloudflare to run the site; Turnstile protects forms from bots.

What we deliberately don't collect

Medical records, diagnoses, or care plans. Posts should describe needs in general terms ("my father has dementia and needs afternoon companionship") — we moderate away anything that reads like a medical file. Sakina Care is not a healthcare provider and not a HIPAA covered entity; the respectful handling is a choice, not a loophole.

How we use it

To run the directory: publish your listings, deliver messages, send sign-in links and the email alerts you asked for, process payments, moderate content, and prevent abuse. That's the list.

What we never do

• Sell or rent your data. To anyone. Ever.
• Share it, except with the processors that make the site work (Cloudflare for hosting, Resend for email, Stripe for payments), or if the law compels us.
• Run advertising trackers. Sponsors buy labeled slots on the page, not your data.

Your choices

• Your listings can be edited or taken down by you at any time from your dashboard.
• Email salaam@sakinacare.org to get a copy of your data or to delete your account entirely. Deletion removes your listings and personal details; payment records are retained as required for accounting.
• Alert emails have an off switch (delete the saved search).

Children

Sakina Care is for adults (18+). We don't knowingly collect children's data.

Material changes get a new date at the top of this page.
